Delivery March 21 and beef update

Taking orders for March 21 Delivery

We have lots of pork and chicken available, and the website is ready to take orders! 

Delivery March 21:
I will be making home deliveries along a route from Roberta (4pm) to West Bay, Cleveland (5pm), Troy, Port Hawkesbury (6pm), Louisdale, River Bourgeois, St. Peters (7:15), L'Ardoise, Sampsonville.

If you live along this route, and will be home that evening, select 'Home Delivery' from the shipping option when you check out with your order.

If you live close by I will be doing a brief 'meat-up' in Port Hawkesbury (in front of Walmart) from 6:00-6:15 pm, and St. Peters (beside Home Hardware) from 7:15-7:30pm. You can place an order and then meet me there to pick it up. If this is the case, please select the appropriate location during checkout.

If you are in the Sydney area, you can place an order and select 'Coxheath' delivery. I will be at the Coxheath Arena parking lot from 3:45 until 4:15 pm on Wednesday, March 22.

 

Beef Update

I know ... 'Where's the Beef?'
Butchering is continuing to be a struggle, and is only getting worse with the closure of one abbatoir and capacity reduction at another. There are rumors of a new abbatoir opening in the fall though ... fingers crossed.

In order to try and deal with the situation we are going to try something a little different. The next steer will be butchered on the farm (week of March 20) and then cut up at a shop in Havre Boucher. We have used this butcher before for selling sides, and have been very pleased. However, because the animal is slaughtered on the farm it can not go to a provincially inspected facility. This means that we can sell it 'farm gate', but not through delivery.

So what does all this mean? for at least the next one or two beef we will be taking orders, however if you order you will have to come to the farm on a specific day to pick it up. We will have more details when the time gets closer ... likely mid April.
